This past weekend, Bri and I met the newest addition to Team VIVE: Betty, our giant inflatable swan. After weeks of scouring the Hamptons for a floating swan – most stores unfortunately don’t stock swans – we were finally able to find our beloved Betty and take her home to the VIVE pool.
The storeowner had warned us she was humongous, but nothing could have prepared us for the sight of Betty in her fully inflated glory. Floating majestically in the pool, Betty soon became the most sought after member of Team VIVE, towering above the rest of us swimmers.
We were really pushing for Betty to come with us to the VIVE Braid Bar event at Soul Cycle East Hampton on Saturday morning, but sadly there were some practical obstacles in our path – simply put, there was no way, post-inflation, that Betty was going to fit in anyone’s car. Instead, Betty luxuriated in the pool, working on her tan. It soon became clear that Betty was the most pampered member of Team VIVE – while we slaved away, cleaning the house, and working at events, Betty “kept the pool warm for us.”
That evening, Betty had her first taste of the Hamptons nightlife when our founders brought the party to the pool, literally. Dressed in pajamas, “risky business” style, our founders piled on to Betty for an impromptu photo shoot before their evening out.
Bri and I were sad to say an early goodbye to Betty on Sunday, but we had a jam-packed schedule, with an event at Soul Cycle East Hampton followed by an event at Navy Beach Montauk.
Betty, you will be missed. Until next weekend!
